Former Syracuse attack and assistant coach Michelle Tumolo will join Oregon's coaching staff as an assistant. She's considered one of SU's all-time greats.

Syracuse women’s lacrosse assistant coach Michelle Tumolo has been named an assistant women’s lacrosse coach at Oregon, per a press release from the Oregon athletic department.

Tumolo had spent one season as an offensive assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Orange. Prior to coaching at SU, Tumolo had been an offensive assistant coach with Florida. She also played attack at Syracuse and is considered one of the best players in program history.

“She brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for the game that is unmatched,” recently hired Oregon head coach Katrina Dowd said in the press release. “Her competitive drive as a player, and now as a top young coach, will be a perfect fit in helping take Oregon lacrosse to the next level.”

Dowd is also a former Syracuse assistant coach, where she helped the Orange reach the 2012 NCAA final. Last season, Oregon finished sixth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, earning the final bid in the conference tournament. The Ducks were 4-5 in conference play and 9-8 overall. Southern California won the conference, but lost to Syracuse in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals, 12-11, in overtime.

Tumolo played for Syracuse from 2010-13 and was a Tewaaraton Award finalist in 2012. She ranks fifth in career points (278), seventh in career goals (141) and second in career assists (137) at Syracuse. The Orange made four straight NCAA tournament semifinals in Tumolo’s playing career, including one trip to the national championship game in 2012, which Syracuse lost, 8-6, to Northwestern. Tumolo suffered a torn ACL in the middle of her senior season in 2013.
